TAB takes the audience’s journey as its choreography. Series creators, Kay Ottinger and Stephanie Browne, work to activate the ‘art’ of exhibition, venturing far beyond the innocent, curated group show.
Stimulate all senses
TAB 4.0 comprises environments and performances by Beau Rhee and Kate Mohanty. Melodious silks. Colorful cocktails. The voice of a saxophone rising from stormy basement. The audience will explore the ways perception is made up of both what and how. Please, come be a part.
A Brooklyn-based saxophonist of 19 years, Kate Mohanty’s music exists in the avant-garde realm. She emphasizes free-improvisation while attempting to break conventional “non-traditional” forms. Kate performs solo under the title “The Neue Avant-Garde Project” and also adds her avant-garde element to various projects, including EULA and Parlor Walls. In addition, Kate draws and writes poetry, publishing her first book of poems, Back from Brooklyn, in 2011 (RA Press). www.katemohanty.bandcamp.com
Beau Rhee has a flare for "geste.” Throughout her childhood she was an avid dancer and jazz pianist. She studied Art History & Dance at Barnard College/Columbia University and has apprenticed for Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company. Today she is a designer, artist, and the founder of ATELIER DE GESTE, which synthesizes her interests in contemporary art, fashion, and Swiss design.
Beau Rhee's movement, color & textile work can be experienced in an evening length performance/concert ALL BLUES at Baryshnikov Arts Center June 11-12. http://www.atelierdegeste.com/store/allblues
